Hi Tariq, Can you tell me if your daughter has any other symptoms like fever, wheezing, or chest tightness along with the cough? Also, how is her digestion and sleep—any signs of indigestion or poor sleep that could be contributing? Lastly, does she have any known food allergies or sensitivities, particularly to cold foods or drinks? This will help guide a more holistic approach to managing her symptoms.

Hi . Kapha dosha is prominent in pediatrics age group. So cough, sneezing are very common in children .is there any allergy of food colors , cold drink just rule out. Did you have her recent CBC report in which if eosinophil are high that indicate she might have allergy of something. Also avoid Cold and sweet food at night to helps to reduce cough. Have warm water with pinch of black pepper and dry ginger powder Syp. Septilin (Himalaya) gives good relief in cold and cough in pediatrics age group.

According to Ayurveda, your daughter's cough may be due to an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, which is aggravated by cold drinks and processed foods. This imbalance leads to excess mucus and a weak digestive fire (Agni), causing irritation in the throat and respiratory tract. When she drinks cold beverages or consumes certain catch-ups, it increases the Kapha, triggering a sore throat and cough. For management, it is advised that she avoids cold drinks and opts for warm, freshly prepared foods instead. Simple remedies like warm water with a little honey can soothe the throat (ensure honey is appropriate for her age), and a mild ginger or tulsi tea may help improve digestion and boost immunity. Maintaining a regular routine with proper sleep and light activity can also help balance her doshas. Please consult with a qualified Ayurvedic paediatrician for a personalized treatment plan tailored to her age and specific condition.
