When addressing a condition like an enlarged heart, particularly with low ejection fraction, it's crucial to integrate both Ayurvedic and modern medical approaches. Please remember that continuing your current medication lasix, cardace, and rosuvasa is essential part of your treatment, and any changes should be only under the supervision of your physician. In Ayurveda, an enlarged heart can be associated with imbalances in doshas, particularly kapha and vata. Given your symptoms, an important step is focusing on herbs and practices that can support heart function and manage difficulties with breathing. Arjuna, aqueous extract of the bark, is renowned for its heart-strengthening properties (hridaya). You might consider taking Arjuna powder 3 grams once or twice a day with warm water. Do consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to ascertain appropriate dosage for you. In terms of diet, it's beneficial to incorporate foods that bolster your digestive fire (agnni) and do not aggravate kapha, like warm foods, light meals, and spices such as ginger, garlic, cumin and black pepper. Avoid heavy, fried, or oily foods that burden the cardiovascular system. Breathing exercises (pranayama) such as Anuloma Viloma (alternate nostril breathing) can be helpful, but they should be done gently and under the guidance of a trainer, especially given your current breathing difficulties. Physical activity should be tailored and mild, exercises like yoga or tai chi aid to promote circulation and reduce stress but consult with your healthcare provider to know what’s safe for you. While lifestyle and dietary changes can support heart health, complete cure for a condition such as an enlarged heart with low pumping capacity might not be possible. Ayurveda can potentially aid in management and improving quality of life, not necessarily a complete reversal of the condition, especially if tissue damage is significant. Ensure regular follow-ups with your cardiologist, and don’t cease your allopathic treatments. Ayurvedically, enhance your treatment but prioritizing safety by never delaying emergency care.
