Doctors’ responses
It is to be used only after direct consultation with an ayurvedic doctor. This is not a kind of medicine which you can directly give to kids or even for adults. It contains mercury etc non herbal ingredients but in purest form. Dosage in indicated conditions to be decided strictly by a registered ayurvedic practitioner after proper examination of the patient.
When considering the use of Swasa Chintamani Ras for your 8 and 13-year-old boys’ respiratory issues, there are a few important points to discuss. Swasa Chintamani Ras is an Ayurvedic formulation traditionally used for respiratory conditions but has essential components that require careful consideration.
Yes, this Ayurvedic medicine contains minerals and metals such as purified mercury and gold, which are part of many traditional formulations. While these components have historical use in Ayurveda, caution is advised, especially for children. The potential side effects can vary, but with metal content, there may be concerns if used improperly or without professional guidance.
It’s critical to use this preparation under the supervision of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner, especially when dealing with young children. Generally, the dosage is considerably lower for children than adults. For kids, an ayurvedic doctor might recommend around 30 to 50 mg once or twice a day, diluted in honey or warm water. But this isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation, and adjustments might be necessary based on the individual’s condition, body constitution (Prakriti), and response to the initial doses.
Apart from medicine, focus on dietary and lifestyle modifications to support respiratory health. Warm, nourishing foods that are not mucus-forming can be helpful. Steam inhalations with natural eucalyptus oil, mild physical activity, and adequate hydration can help too. These integrated approaches can improve overall respiratory health without solely relying on medicines that contain metals. Also, if they have serious or rapidly worsening symptoms, or if there’s no response to initial treatment, it’s necessary to seek prompt conventional medical attention.
Swasa Chintamani Ras is a classical Ayurvedic formulation traditionally used to address respiratory issues. However, it contains bhasmas, which are calcinated mineral preparations, including heavy metals. Because of this, cautious consideration is needed when it comes to children.
For the 8-year-old and 13-year-old boys, it would be advisable to avoid using Swasa Chintamani Ras without supervision by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner who is familiar with its formulation. The presence of minerals and metals like ash and mercurial compounds can potentially lead to side effects, especially in children whose systems are more sensitive. Common concerns could include digestive discomfort or imbalances in the doshas if not properly administered.
When it comes to dosage, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all as it heavily depends on the individual’s health status, weight, and specific condition. For children, only precise, small doses should ever be considered, strictly under medical supervision. Typically, pediatric dosages are significantly lesser than adult recommendations to ensure safety.
Instead of Swasa Chintamani Ras, exploring gentler options like herbal syrups, kashayas (decoctions), or simple home remedies—ginger tea, licorice root, or tulsi (holy basil)—could provide relief for respiratory issues without potential heavy metal exposure.
If respiratory issues are persistent or severe, it’s crucial to consult a health provider. Immediate attention is vital for symptoms like difficulty breathing, cyanosis (blueness), or lethargy to assure safety and proper care.
they are not usually recommended for children unless under direct guidance of an experienced Ayurvedic doctor. Pls get personal chk from ayurvedacharya and follow accordingly.
