Doctors' responses

At 67, with diabetes and hypertension, tingling, burning, and leg pain are often signs of diabetic neuropathy or nerve-related weakness. Ayurveda focuses on strengthening nerves, improving circulation, and reducing Vata-related pain, but treatment must be chosen carefully considering her age and existing conditions. Supportive approaches may include: • Internal herbal support – formulations like Bala, Ashwagandha, or Rasayana medicines for nerve strength and muscle support (selection based on digestion and constitution) • External therapies – gentle Abhyanga (warm oil massage) on legs, possibly with Mahanarayana or Bala oil, to reduce tingling and improve circulation • Diet and lifestyle – warm, nourishing meals, adequate protein, avoid cold or raw foods that aggravate Vata • Gentle stretching or physiotherapy – to maintain muscle strength and mobility Because she has diabetes and high blood pressure, medicines and oils should be selected individually to avoid interactions or aggravation. A personal consultation is recommended to assess her constitution, current medications, and severity, so a safe and effective Ayurvedic plan can be created to relieve leg pain and restlessness.

67 years, with diabetes + high BP, and symptoms of: Tingling Burning Pain in both legs Restlessness Weakness 6 months duration This strongly suggests Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy. 🧠 What Is Happening? High blood sugar over time damages: Small nerves in feet and legs Blood supply to nerves Common symptoms: Burning sensation Pins and needles Electric shock–like pain Night worsening Weakness This is very common in long-standing diabetes. ⚠️ First Important Step (Very Important) Before only Ayurvedic treatment, please check: HbA1c (3-month sugar average) Vitamin B12 level (very important — metformin can reduce it) Kidney function (creatinine) Thyroid (TSH) Low B12 can worsen burning and weakness. 🌿 Ayurvedic Approach (Supportive, Not Replacement) Internal Medicines (Consult local Ayurvedic physician for dosage) Ashwagandha Brahmi Dashmoolarishta Yograj Guggulu Chandraprabha Vati Ekangveer Ras (only under supervision) For nerve nourishment: Mahayograj Guggulu Balarishta External Treatment Daily Mahanarayan oil massage to legs Followed by mild hot water fomentation Helps circulation and nerve comfort 💊 Allopathic Medicines (Often Needed) For neuropathy pain, doctors commonly use: Pregabalin Gabapentin Duloxetine Vitamin B12 supplements These are often necessary if pain is significant. Ayurveda alone may not control severe neuropathic pain. 🍽 Diet Advice Strict sugar control No refined sugar No deep-fried food Include: Nuts (in moderation) Green vegetables Turmeric Warm milk with haldi (if sugar controlled)
