I have breathlessness problem. Breath comes with difficulty. And sometimes it does not come at all. At that time, there is a lot of anxiety and the oxygen level drops a lot due to which the body starts trembling and hands and legs become pale. Chest pain, headache and dizziness also start. I do not know whether this is really a medical problem or anxiety. But please tell me to cure breathlessness. I also take Aspidosperma but there is not much difference.

Hey ! My dad is diagnosed with ILD, as he have breathing problems since 6 months his age is around 44 i dont know what to do, doctors told me to get a lungs transplant or to put him on oxygen machine for life. Is there any solution in ayurveda for this disease

I’m really sorry to hear about your dad’s Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD). Since doctors have suggested a lung transplant or lifelong oxygen support, it means his condition is advanced, Ayurveda cannot reverse lung fibrosis, but it can help improve breathing, slow down further lung damage, and boost overall strength. Some people have seen improvements in oxygen levels and better quality of life with Ayurvedic & natural treatments.

persistent cough, Tickley cough for 2/3 weeks.antibiotic has been taken. but after one week cough again come back. Montreal 10, and 120 MG are taking regularly. one tablet in one day at night. I have constipation also

Hi Ripa, Can you tell me if you’re experiencing any other symptoms like shortness of breath, chest pain, or mucus production with the cough? Also, does the cough worsen after meals or during certain activities? For persistent cough, Tulsi (Holy Basil) and Honey may help soothe the throat. For constipation, try increasing fiber intake with Triphala or Psyllium husk to improve bowel movements. Make sure to stay hydrated and manage stress, as both can contribute to your symptoms. If the issue persists, consult with a healthcare provider to explore underlying causes like allergies or GERD.

How to treat my urinary tract infection

I constantly urinate in every 10 minutes and is really disturbing me I don't know what to do,pls can u tell me how to go about it because I have taken antibiotics but is not working and I feel so bad about it

Hi Mary, I'm really sorry you're going through this. To better understand your situation, could you let me know if you’re experiencing any pain, burning, or urgency while urinating? Are there any other symptoms like fever, back pain, or blood in your urine? Also, do you have any history of urinary tract infections or bladder issues? Frequent urination could be due to urinary tract issues, stress, or even hormonal imbalances. Try drinking Cranberry juice (unsweetened) to support urinary tract health. Ashwagandha may help reduce stress if that's a contributing factor. Additionally, drinking plenty of water, avoiding irritants like caffeine and alcohol, and practicing pelvic floor exercises (Kegel exercises) may help manage symptoms.

Atelectasis

I’ve been struggling with some serious breathing issues lately, and after a few tests, my doctor told me that I have atelectasis. I had never heard of it before, and when I looked it up, I learned that it’s when part of the lung collapses or doesn’t fully expand, which is why I’ve been feeling short of breath. It started a couple of months ago with a tight chest and difficulty breathing, and it’s been getting worse over time. I’ve also been feeling very fatigued, and simple tasks like walking or climbing stairs leave me winded. My doctor gave me some medication and recommended respiratory therapy, but I’m still struggling with the symptoms. The idea of atelectasis and the fact that my lungs aren’t working as they should has been stressing me out. I’ve read that it can happen for various reasons like infections, surgery, or even if I don’t breathe deeply enough, and I’m not sure what triggered it in my case. I want to get better and find ways to manage this condition without just relying on medications. That’s why I’m turning to Ayurveda, as I’ve heard it can be helpful for respiratory issues. I’ve been wondering if Ayurveda can help me manage atelectasis, especially to improve my lung function and ease my breathing. Are there specific Ayurvedic herbs, oils, or breathing exercises that can help with atelectasis? I’ve heard that practices like pranayama can help with lung capacity, but I’m not sure which ones are best for my situation. Also, I’ve been trying to stay active, but sometimes I feel like I can’t catch my breath. Is there anything in Ayurveda that could help support my respiratory health and give me the strength I need to recover more quickly from atelectasis? I’ve also been thinking about my diet and whether it’s contributing to my symptoms. Can Ayurveda suggest any foods or lifestyle changes that can improve my lung function or reduce the inflammation in my chest? Lastly, how long does it typically take to recover from atelectasis, and can Ayurvedic treatments help speed up the healing process? I’m feeling frustrated and exhausted, so any advice on how to manage my condition holistically would be greatly appreciated.

I understand how distressing your experience with atelectasis has been, and it's commendable that you're seeking holistic approaches to improve your respiratory health. In Ayurveda, breathing issues can be linked to imbalances in the doshas, particularly Vata and Kapha. Addressing these imbalances will be essential for your recovery. To begin with, consider incorporating specific breathing exercises, or pranayama, that promote lung expansion. Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) can help balance your energy and improve oxygen flow. You can practice this by sitting comfortably, using your right thumb to close your right nostril, then inhaling deeply through the left nostril. After holding for a moment, close the left nostril with your ring finger, then exhale through the right nostril. Repeat this for 5-10 minutes daily. In terms of dietary adjustments, focus on warm, light, and easily digestible foods that reduce Kapha qualities. You can include ginger, turmeric, garlic, and black pepper for their anti-inflammatory properties. Warm broths and herbal teas with ingredients like eucalyptus, thyme, or licorice can also soothe your respiratory system. Staying hydrated is crucial, so drink warm water or herbal teas frequently throughout the day. For external application, you might try a herbal chest rub made with eucalyptus or peppermint oil to help ease your tightness and improve airflow; simply mix a few drops of the oil with a carrier oil like coconut oil and gently massage it onto your chest. Recovery time from atelectasis can vary, but with the right combination of medical guidance and supportive Ayurvedic practices, you may see improvement in your lung function and overall breathing in a few weeks. It's vital to maintain communication with your healthcare provider throughout this process. Alongside these practices, minimize stress through practices like meditation or gentle yoga, which can help enhance your overall well-being and promote lung recovery. Remember, consistency is key. I encourage you to incorporate these suggestions gradually and monitor your body's responses diligently. Take care and be gentle with yourself during this healing journey.

pulmonary edema

A few weeks ago, my father had to be rushed to the hospital because he suddenly couldn't breathe. He was gasping for air, coughing like crazy, and his face looked swollen. It was terrifying. The doctors said it was pulmonary edema, something about fluid in the lungs. They stabilized him, but he’s still feeling weak, and sometimes his breathing gets heavy again, especially when lying down. He has a history of high blood pressure and heart issues, so I guess this was related. The doctors put him on a bunch of medications, including diuretics, but now he’s constantly feeling drained and dehydrated. His legs also feel weak, and he has no appetite at all. They told us to keep his salt intake low and follow a strict diet, but honestly, it feels like we’re just managing the symptoms, not really fixing the issue. I wanted to ask if Ayurveda has a different approach to pulmonary edema. Can Ayurveda actually help strengthen his lungs and heart rather than just keep removing the excess fluid? Are there herbs or treatments that can support the body without making him feel so weak? Also, his digestion seems off ever since the hospital stay. Could that be affecting his recovery? We’re also looking for natural ways to improve his breathing because he still gets these moments where it feels like there’s pressure on his chest. Would things like pranayama or steam inhalation help with pulmonary edema? I just want to find something that will help him feel stronger instead of just relying on meds that make him more exhausted. If anyone has seen improvements with Ayurveda for something like this, please let me know what helped.

It sounds like your father has been through a challenging experience, and it's understandable to seek a more holistic approach to his recovery using Ayurveda. Given his condition of pulmonary edema along with a history of high blood pressure and heart issues, it's important to take a gentle and supportive approach. First, his symptoms suggest an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, which is often associated with excess fluid and congestion. To help alleviate these symptoms, consider incorporating herbs like Vasa (Adhatoda vasica), which can support lung function and reduce cough, and Pippali (Piper longum) to enhance respiratory capacity. Preparing a decoction with these herbs could be beneficial—boil a teaspoon of each in two cups of water until it reduces to one cup. He can sip this once daily, but please ensure there's no interaction with his current medications. For enhancing digestion, consider introducing digestive spices like ginger and cumin into his meals—these will help kindle his agni (digestive fire). Light, easy-to-digest foods like khichdi (a mix of rice and lentils) with minimal spice can be introduced to nourish him without overwhelming his system. Pranayama techniques such as deep abdominal breathing and Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) can significantly improve his lung capacity and should be practiced gently, seeking guidance where necessary to ensure he's comfortable. Steam inhalation is also beneficial; adding eucalyptus or peppermint oil can help open up the airways. Encourage hydration but in a balanced way, as diuretics can lead to dehydration. Herbal teas with a pinch of salt (like a light herbal broth) can be soothing and provide necessary electrolytes, but monitor his salt intake according to medical advice. Ensure he rests in an elevated position during sleep to ease breathing. Lastly, consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner who can craft a individualized treatment plan that takes into account his entire health profile and ensures the recommendations fit his ongoing medical management. This comprehensive approach can support his healing process while addressing both his heart and lung health more holistically.
